Jism Ka Takabbur

Is mitti ke jism ka takabbur to dekho,
Kehta hai zindagi imtehan hai kis cheez ka.
Kuch mitti ke jismon ne nafrat jagai dilon mein,
Kuch mitti ke jismon ne Noor se mohabbat roshan kar di.
Mitti ka jism thak gaya hai, aur mitti mein mil gaya hai,
Rooh amanat le gayi ajal apne makan par,
Takabbur bhara jism mitti mein kho gaya — kamal hai.

Interpretation & Literary Context | تشریح و مفہوم

Critical nuances, poetic imagery and philosophical themes

Takabbur Fana hai — pride perishes; only the Light returns home.

The examination was never the body's — the body is only the classroom; the soul is the student. Some clay lit hatred and its Light went out; some clay lit love and its Light still shines. The tired body rests in its mother, the earth; Ajal — no thief, only the courier — carries the trust home. The pride-filled body is lost in dust. And that is the perfection: fana hi kamal hai.
